A Guide to using CutWrights Online Cutting Service
It all works from a computer web browser. Once you are registered you can save/print/send your cutting lists from any computer using your CutWrights login details. CutWrights works on all the main web browsers (Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome) however if you are a PC owner we recommend you use Firefox/Chrome rather than Internet Explorer as the speed is much faster.
When you login you will see the form below for typing in your cutting list. It's also possible to cut and paste cutting lists into this form. Read on.

Working with cutting lists
When you've completed your cutting list, send it to us for a quotation by pressing the 'Send Cutting List' button. You'll recieve an email confirmation and we'll get back to you with a quotation after processing the list with our optimisation software. If you're happy to proceed, the cutting job will be sent to our computer controlled saw and edgebander and you'll get exactly what you asked for.
You can also save your work in progress. Pressing the 'Save Cutting List' button allocates a Job Reference which you can use to retrieve your list later and continue to make changes to it. You can even work on several cutting lists at the same time and from any computer connected to the Internet - just login with your username/password and select the appropriate Job Reference. When you've completed specifying your cutting list just press the 'Send Cutting List' and we'll action it.
Checking your cutting list - the Panel Checker
We have over 250 material choices and 8 edgebanding options. The stock material comes from our supplier in a range of sizes. To help manage all the combinations of panel sizes, edging options and best utilisation of stock material, we have developed the 'Panel Checker'. The Panel Checker is a button you can press at any time whilst compiling your cutting list and it will check
- the panels fit on the stock material
- the edgebanding selection is appropriate
- you've used only millimetres and chosen materials from our stock
- the panel meets the minimum size requirements for edgebanding
We encourage you to use the Panel Checker - it means that we can load your cutting list into our optimisation system with the minimum of work and we won't need to telephone you with questions!
Shortcuts to complete your cutting list quickly
Often you will have something like ten different sized panels of perhaps two types of material and many of those panels share a common length or width. We've designed CutWrights with some shortcuts to speed entry of such lists.Press 'Tab' to move between the boxes of the cutting list. If you want a given material/measurement box to have the same value as the box above then press 'Enter'. The best way to see how this works is to try it out!
Other ways to bring in your cutting lists
If you have cutting lists on your computer in some form already you can bring them into CutWrights using our 'Magic List' facility. Press the Magic List button and a box like the one below will appear. You can cut and paste from other applications (like Microsoft Excel or Notepad) into this box and we'll try to bring it into CutWrights.
Here's how it works with an Excel spreadsheet.
Below is shown part of an Excel spreadsheet with columns for material, width, length and quantity. We select this part of the spreadsheet and 'Copy'. Moving to the Internet Browser with CutWrights page open, we click in the Magic List box and 'Paste - see below. Press 'Process Magic List' to process it.

CutWrights reports whether the list could be processed or not. In the case of our example list the result is shown below. We can now click on the material box and choose exactly what type of MDF (standard/moisture resistant/veneered, thickness and so on) we want from the Wrights range.
The Magic List facility will work with other applications including Microsoft Word. Make sure the data you are copying is in table form or else that the colums in the list are separated with tabs or commas - not spaces. You'll need column headings for material, length, width and quantity so we know which column is which.
The column order is not important.
